Having recently sold our family's remaining land holdings in Whitby, I have decided to offer my 40 years experience in real estate marketing and sales to commercial real estate owners. My experience includes......
1996-2015. RESIDENTIAL LAND SUBDIVISION. As the owner/developer of more than 500 sections in Whitby, an upper middle class village in Porirua, 30 minutes north of Wellington, I project managed and sold over $100 million of residential land in the Wellington, New Zealand residential property market. Also I was the managing partner of an 84 lot subdivision in Arrowtown (near Queenstown) that overlooks Millbrook.
2004–2008… I was the founder of Whitby Independent College, the first independent co-educational secondary school developed in the Wellington region for nearly 100 years. In 2008 Samuel Marsden Collegiate (one of the top 5 secondary schools in New Zealand) purchased Whitby Independent College from my family. The college has grown rapidly and now has over 150 students who travel from around the Wellington region to attend primary and secondary school. The school has recently been sold again by Samuel Marsden Karori to the Fiso Group and now operates as Whitby Collegiate. https://www.whitbycollegiate.school.nz/
1980-1996. FRACTIONAL OWNERSHIP – RESORT PROPERTIES.
I was the pioneer of fractional ownership and timeshare development in New Zealand with my successful Turner Heights Townhouses project. The project in Queenstown is perhaps the most successful fractional ownership development in New Zealand.
1989-95. Elected Mayor of the Queenstown-Lakes District Council for two 3 year terms. The district encompasses Queenstown, Wanaka, Arrowtown, Makarora, Lake Hawea, Luggate, Glenorchy and Kingston communities. During this time I was a Director of Queenstown Airport Corporation, Chairman of the QLDC Finance Committee and ex-officio director on Queenstown Promotion Board. Retired from local government office in November 1995 to pursue new business opportunities and spend more time with my family. We then moved to Wellington in January 1996 when our eldest son started high school at Scots College.
For over 4 years I have been the 'go-to' commercial real estate broker at Ray White Leaders in Wellington City, the most successful agency for residential sales in the Wellington region.
